Vienna, shortly after the Second World War: the occupied city is controlled by the Russians, Americans, British and French. The black market and crime are rife. The American Holly Martins, author of cheap dime novels, has followed an invitation by his friend Harry Lime in the hope of starting a new life in Vienna. But Harry Lime has died under mysterious circumstances. Dubious business partners report a tragic traffic accident, a witness has seen a third man at the scene of the accident and the British Major Calloway claims that Harry Lime was one of the worst criminals of Vienna. Instead of leaving Vienna, Martins tries to shed light on the matter, is pushed to the limits of his own morality and has to face the truth in a dramatic chase in the city’s sewers.

Wrong place, wrong time: two jazz musicians, Joe and Jerry, involuntarily witness the St. Valentine's Day massacre in Chicago in 1929. In horror, they see how a criminal gang eliminate their rivals by machine-gun fire. Barely having escaped the bullets, they have to get out of town and find a safe haven. What could be safer than disguised as women, taking the names Josephine and Daphne, joining a women's jazz band and accepting an engagement in Florida, the holiday paradise for millionaires? But what initially appears to be a male fantasy, soon turns into a crazy nightmare. They have to survive the night in the sleeping car with the other girls as well as the advances of the stronger sex. In addition, the tender feelings that Joe, or rather Josephine, has for band member Sugar Kane, almost lead to disaster. Finally the gangsters from Chicago hold their annual members' meeting in the very same beach hotel where they perform every night.

He has no qualms about joining forces with drug dealer Grandi against Vargas. A duel to the death develops between Vargas and Quinlan. With its story of murder, marijuana and police corruption, Touch of Evil is one the the last of the 1940s/50s cycle of crime thrillers known as film noir. Welles’ vivid turn as corpulent bent cop Quinlan provided one of the genre’s most memorable villains.

During a skiing holiday in the Swiss Alps, Reggie Lambert realizes that she wants to divorce her husband. Back in Paris, she learns that her husband has been murdered. Shortly before his death, he plundered their apartment and sold their joint possessions. Peter Joshua, whom she met in Switzerland, offers to help her. Shortly afterwards, a certain Bartholomew from the CIA contacts her and warns her about three men who have a score to settle with her ex-husband from wartime. But Peter Joshau also seems to be involved. More murders soon follow and Reggie finds herself trapped in a dangerous game. Who are the good guys, who are the bad guys and who can she trust?
